ECC-1: Top Toxins: Approach to Diagnosis and Treatment in Small Animals

Course Description:

Toxicities are a common reason for emergency presentation for cats and dogs.  This case-based presentation will provide a general approach to all toxicity cases as well as in depth discussion of 5 of the most common toxicities.  Diagnosis, decontamination, and treatment will be presented specifically for NSAIDs, marijuana, chocolate, xylitol, and anti-coagulant rodenticides.

Biography: 

Beth Davidow joined the emergency and critical care department at Washington State University in March.  She is a graduate of Cornell University and completed her residency at Dove Lewis Emergency Hospital in Portland, OR.  She was the co-owner and medical director of 2 emergency and multispecialty hospitals and a blood bank in Seattle for 13 years.  She has been a consultant for VIN since 2002 and is president-elect of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.
