Neuro 2: Understanding Vestibular Disease

Neuro 2 Course Description:

This course consists of a 50-minute presentation breaking down the vestibular system. We will review the anatomy of vestibular system and how to utilize the neuro exam findings to localize the vestibular disease and prioritize differentials based on case presentation.  There will also be some fun practice cases and discussion!

Biographies: 

1. Dr. Hilary Wright is originally from Park City, Utah. She finished her veterinary degree in 2017 from WSU and followed graduation with a rotating internship at Purdue Veterinary Teaching Hospital. After her rotating internship she was accepted into to return to WSU for the Neurology/Neurosurgery residency program and is currently finishing her third and final year as a resident. Outside of work, she enjoys the outdoors especially mountain biking, backpacking and skiing. She also loves spending time with family, including her two chihuahuas and cat (Moose, Pavlov and Balto). She loves being part of WSU neurology team and finds spinal surgery and long-term management of infectious and inflammatory central nervous system conditions particularly rewarding. 
    
2. Dr. Yael Merbl is an Assistant Professor for Neurology and Neurosurgery at Washington State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital.  She obtained her DVM from the Hebrew University in Israel and completed a small animal rotating internship and Neurology residency at the Koret VTH in Israel. She has worked for 4 years in private practice as a general practitioner and a neurologist. She has been with WSU VTH for a year. She has authored several journal articles, and has lectured in an international, national, and regional meetings.  Her clinical and research interest is in brain diseases.  She has special interests in evaluating cerebrospinal biomarkers in epileptic and encephalitis patients in hopes of utilizing these biomarkers as therapeutic and prognostic indicators for the future.
