On August 27, 2014, I said goodbye to one of my oldest, dearest friends, "Super" Centennial. He walked into my life when he was 3 and I was a freshman in college, and he walked out at 29 1/2. He literally carried me throughout my adult life, accompanying me to college, into marriage, to our first home (and carried my nephew, nieces, and even great nieces, too!), all with his positive, "let's go" attitude and sweet personality. We shared more than 26 years, all joyful, even when simply watching him contentedly graze in the pasture during his retirement. He was simply one of the best and one of the easiest horses I've ever known--a good-natured gentleman on the ground and honest, willing, level-headed horse under saddle. There are few--two-legged or four-legged--I trusted as much as him. Despite the pain, his spirit was indomitable, all the way until the end. My last memory will be of him taking a break from grazing to hang out with his people under the cherry tree, ever social, ever happy.
