Artemis' Teal Shadow, 27 May 2000 to 19 June 2013. We chose Arte as our first puppy because we wanted a Black Lab for the expected great personality and companionship, with the hope that maybe she would hunt. Artemis—the goddess of the hunt—was a very fitting name for this dog that loved hunting quail, pheasants, and an occasional duck. Arte also loved people and helping me in the lab with biochemistry research and teaching. Dr. Arte was my best graduate student and a great recruiter of students! We miss that thick tail thwacking on the walls and the furniture, signaling that Arte was happy with her world and ready for the next walk, day at work or hunting trip.
