We only had 8 days with Franklin so we didn't get to know him well. He was found screaming in a bush outside my friend's mom's house. He was TINY -- probably 9 weeks old. He was dirty, his ears were filthy, and he had fleas on his body and worms in his belly. My friend took him to her house but told me about him and I wanted to adopt him, so I met him and took him to a vet for vaccines and deworming and a flea/tick/ear mite treatment. Franklin was so unbelievably sweet. He slept a lot and loved laying in a bed in front of the wood stove, or on a blanket in the sheet + chair fort I made him. He explored the house during his rare awake times and cuddled a little with one of our cats. He became very unwell on his 8th day with us and we took him to the vet and found out he had FIV. The vet said the disease was fatal and we had them euthanize to spare him more suffering. He was a beautiful boy with a gentle spirit and I feel so sad that most of his time on earth was spent in discomfort (at best) but grateful we were able to give him comfort at the end of his life and a painless death.
