Our beloved Ruben passed on August 6th, 2019, after a life-long battle with pulmonary stenosis. He was 6 1/4 years old. No one thought he would live to be 6, and in fact we were told he had very little time left (days) back in November when his disease suddenly worsened. Ruben never let his disease hinder his love of life and family. He shared us with his brother and sister, Winston and Carma, as well as his feline family Loki and Keena. If anyone would describe Ruben it would be as a sweet little bulldog who was always loving and a mama's boy who followed me everywhere.

Ruben's eyes were so sparkly all of the time. Like pretty brown marbles. He loved to watch TV…I mean really actually watch TV. As you can see by the picture, he used to hang halfway off the couch with his chin on the ottoman, watching TV. Often he would just sit there and follow what was happening on the screen. It was so adorable! He was also very silly. Ruben used to burrow under his bed pad and lay there with it on top of him. His ears were so so soft and silky and he loved to lay on my lap. Ruben used to nudge his chin into our legs until he was comfortable and he was ticklish! If you turned his belly up and tickled under his chin he would actually "laugh". Our little Rubie was fancy too...he had a spotted V on his chest, like a little tuxedo shirt under his pretty brindle coat. Ruben snuggled with his brother from the same litter, Winston, his whole life...bodies wrapped together spooning on their sides, front legs and noses together, faces squished together, one’s chin on the other’s back…so many ways to be as close as they could for love and comfort.

Ruben is sorely missed by us all and will be forever remembered.
