A donation was made in memory of Teddy on
Aug 26, 2015.
We adopted our most precious, most beloved Teddy four years ago from Denise's Delightful Dookers and Ferret Rescue in Auburn. He had been found in wandering in the heat of summer, so we know nothing of his prior life. Teddy was a ruby-eyed white with a sandy patch of fur on his back and a sweet face with a ready smile. His favorite place in the world was curled up in my arms, where he would sleep and snuggle for as many hours as he could. Although he had dozens and dozens of toys to play with, his favorites were anything round – yarn balls, jingle balls, crochet eggs. He carried them around and organized them according to his changing whims. Because he probably suffered severe thirst while he was abandoned or lost outside, he wanted fresh water all the time, and we were happy to empty and refill his bowl over and over however many times he asked.
He loved meeting new people and would greet them by sniffing their ears. At the park, he would see a group of people in the distance and trundle determinedly toward them, because to Teddy, a stranger was just a friend he hadn’t met yet. He was possibly the world’s best behaved ferret. He never got into mischief and was totally trustworthy to roam freely all around the house; he was a lot like a little dog in many ways. He was a great passenger and rode quietly in his car seat or in my arms without fussing. We took him as many places as we could, and he was always welcome because he was just such a good boy. Everybody who met Teddy fell in love with him. Even our backyard squirrels liked him, and one of them would come up and greet Teddy with a nose bump when we played on the deck.
We are deeply grateful to everybody at Sacajawea Healthcare for Pets for their great kindness, especially Dr. Crouthers for her friendship and guidance through Teddy’s long illness as well as this generous donation in his memory. We also wish to thank Veterinary Cancer Specialty Care and the Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine, who worked with Sacajawea to give Teddy several extra months of quality life with us. Teddy was an extraordinary little creature, a being made of pure love wrapped in fur, and we will probably never know anybody else like him.
