Rielly

Rielly was a Jack Russell. We had to put him down July 16, 2007.
Rielly was 13. Because he was older he had been to the vets earlier in
the year and they told us he was so fit he would last another 5 years. We
were so devastated when only a few months later he had to be put down
because of a brain tumor. He was small but he would have defended me
with his life. Nothing was more fun than licking my husbands ears when
he was sleeping and then running off before he got caught. He spoke
for his sister, Shasta, when she was unwell or needed to go out. She
could never communicate like Rielly. He shared our lives for so long, yet
not long enough. I so dearly miss the weight of his body as he lay
beside me night. The way he made me feel safe. I still have not
got past expecting his little head to pop around the corner of one of the
doors. I can't bear to see his empty bowl. It's only been
4 days and I am dying inside. But I wouldn't trade one tear I've shed
if it meant that he wouldn't have been apart of our life.
You will always be near, dear and in my heart.
