Max

The tears flowed freely once I accepted that it was the end of the
road for Max. I miss him so much; he was such a good dog. He was
the best dog we've ever had. Max was our son's first dog and he played
with him every day when he would return home from school. Once our son went
off to college, he became my and my husband's dog. Max was so smart; he
would sit, roll over, play dead, do "high fives", wave goodbye, take a bow
and other cute tricks.
I just can't believe how Max's loss affected me until
he was ripped out of our lives. I think part of it was that he was only 6
1/2 years old; much too young to die. The love he gave our
family in his short life span was more than I could ever explain. He
was a wonderful companion during my cancer battle, going on walks with me
and being at my side whenever I was down and sad. He was always
excited to see us when we'd come home from running errands or return from
vacation. He knew the sound of my husband's truck and would run to the
door and wait for him to come in, take him for a stroll and play ball with
him. I loved it when I was sitting on the sofa eating something and he would
place his chin on my knee and look at me with his BIG brown eyes and
patiently wait until I'd give him a morsel or two. He was my buddy, my
friend, my partner, my protector, my companion and my helper. I know he's no
longer suffering and is in a better place and I look forward to the day I
will see him once again.
Psalm 50:10-11 for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a
thousand hills. 11 I know every bird in the mountains, and the
creatures of the field are mine. NIV
Ecclesiastes 3:19-21 Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate
awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath;
man has no advantage over the animal. 20 All go to the same place; all come
from dust, and to dust all return. 21 Who knows if the spirit of man rises
upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?" NIV
