Sammi
Sammi was 15 years and one day old when she passed away. We, as so
many cat lovers, felt that Sammi was much more than a pet. She was
like a child that never grew up and we loved her so. She was given
to eating by somehow grasping food with her right front paw and
delivering each morsel unerringly to her mouth. This practice was
undertaken by Sammi until a couple of years ago when she was
stricken with a vestibular syndrome, which made it impossible for
her to sufficiently maintain her balance. Sammi was resilient and
quickly adapted to the vertigo that lasted for the rest of her life.
She learned to navigate using edges of furniture, walls and even the
grout lines between floor tiles. We think that Sammi herself thought
she was human. She seemed to understand everything that was said to
her.
