In loving memory of Baxter
August 5, 1997 - March 14, 2009
Baxter came into our lives just weeks after my dad passed away from kidney failure. "Baxter" was the company that provided my dad's dialysis supplies. Baxter was our special "gift" from the very beginning. He was a curious, loving, loyal, and extremely smart dog. At the age of six months, he won the blue ribbon in his obedience class. He was full of personality and everyone in the neighborhood knew him by name. He often visited his special animal friends, Belle and Blackie. Baxter also enjoyed "talking" to his human friends, Red and Patti. He especially enjoyed greeting Ira every evening when he came home from work. Baxter was Ira's shadow as well as his "lap" dog. Baxter loved taking walks and exploring new places. He loved to chase squirrels, lay in the sunshine, and go for rides in the car. We were blessed to have him in our lives for eleven and a half years.
Our sincere thanks to all the caring staff at Vista Veterinary Hospital - Dr. Batdorf, Dr. Keatts, Dr. Privette and Dr. Stidham for all the special care, love, and attention given to Baxter over the many years - especially the last month of his life. They were all so hopeful that he'd recover just as he had so many times before. His kidneys were failing and it became harder and harder for him to breathe. It broke our hearts that Saturday to say good-bye, but we knew it was time. We were there with him at the end. He knew we loved him and we knew he loved us. We miss him terribly, but our Bax Man will always be in our hearts. He was the "dog of dogs".
