Chloe
A donation was made in memory of Chloe by Doctors and Staff of the Redwood Animal Hospital on Mar 17, 2010.
With many tears and great sorrow, our family must say goodbye to our beautiful fuzzy Chloe. Chloe ended up with a very aggressive form of cancer and we had to put her to sleep on 11/6/2009 at 2:30 PM.
Chloe was a strong kitty and she had undergone many challenges in her life. At 8 weeks old Chloe and littermate Clint became members of our family. According to the information we'd been given, when we brought them to the vet to be fixed we told the staff "Please take good care of our babies. The black one is a little boy and the gray one is a little girl." Later that day we were feeling anxious and dropped in to see how they were doing. After receiving an odd look from the front staff and realizing we'd not received a message left for us by the vet, one of the staff quickly went to get the doctor. A few very panicky moments later the vet came out and told us "Well, you brought in a boy and a girl but I am sending you home with two boys!" Poor Chloe was actually opened up before the vet realized there were no girl parts. Of course by this time Chloe was Chloe and that's all there was to it -- not very well endowed and on top of that, gender confused. Three years and three urinary blockages later a very successful surgery made Chloe look like a girl too.
We were able to spend some good quality time with Chloe in her last days and she was purring all the way up until the end. Clint was also able to spend time with her and we are sure that he knew she was not well. They were very close and other then a day or two over the last 101/2 years were rarely apart. (We will be watching Clint closely to make sure that he gets as much comfort and support as possible as he will undoubtedly grieve over the loss of his sister and companion.)
This is a tough one as Chloe had been with us since we were married. Clint and Chloe were littermates and wedding gifts and they are truly members of our family. Losing such a precious member of our family is one of the most difficult things to deal with. The sad mingles with the happy thoughts of our time with Chloe, but the amazing love and companionship our pets bring into our lives will remain with us always in our hearts and memories. In the days, months, and years ahead, we will smile at the memories that come into our thoughts as they are a testament to the special loving relationship we had with Chloe, the joy and happiness she brought to our lives and the wonderfully absolute bond we shared.
We love you and miss you sweet baby girl . . .
