Molly

A donation was made in memory of Molly by Donald Cox, DVM MPH at Connecticut Veterinary Center on Mar 28, 2024.

Molly was the sweetest kitty. She never once so much as hissed at me, though she tried to hiss at a dog once. But it wasn't convincing, it wasn't in her nature, and the dog liked her anyway. Everyone did.

All Norwegian forest cats are blessed with beautiful fur and patterns. Beyond this, though, Molly's uniqueness was her gentle spirit. You can see this in the photo. I call this one "Optimist Molly", where she's trying to make the best of being in the vet's waiting room, though in reality she could be looking for an open window.

She had no real reason to fear the vet, though. He took good care of her to her last day. And he was kind enough to sponsor this memorial. Dr. Donald Cox of Connecticut Vet Center. Molly probably got a good three or four extra years thanks to her fine vet care. It's fitting her best photo was taken there.

You can't tell from the photo, but Molly was a big meower. She knew if she meowed, the human would be powerless to resist her exacting culinary requests. The meowing was a problem for her human. Molly saw no reason why the human should not occupy all his waking and non-waking hours tending to her whims and needs. The human complied. It was not by chance that I called her "princess". Others called her "The Queen". We were merely her loyal subjects, at her beck and call. We lovingly obliged. She was hard to resist. Irresistible.

Molly loved our supervised walks around the neighborhood, and after 8 years with us, she knew the route by heart. She charmed all passers-by, dogs, the mailman, other cats. The only worry was the hawks. She caught a pigeon once, but we let it go. Our last walk was the day before our final vet visit. The walk was normal, but the next day her mounting health problems suddenly caught up with her, and it was time to make that last trip. Dr. Cox happened to be there, and we all sent her off to the rainbow bridge with minimal suffering, just shy of 18 and 1/2.

I loved Molly, this beautiful, sweet cat. This photo is my desktop background on all my devices, so I still get to see and remember her every day.

Comments: Molly was truly blessed to have a second chance life when she was adopted by Rich at the CT Humane Society. I’ll always remember that special day. A beautiful bond that proves animals touch our souls forever. Molly will be forever remembered as a sweet gal that touched so many lives with her grace. A true gem.
