A donation was made in memory of Louie by
Doctors and Staff of the Alpine Animal Hospital on
Sep 08, 2009.
Louie came into my life through a Humane Society foster program for dogs who survived Katrina and were brought from New Orleans to Seattle on October 21, 2005. Louie was one of 3 dogs picked up by New Orleans Animal Control on October 4 and then transported to Portland and later Seattle. When he arrived, he was emaciated and suffered from pneumonia and heartworm but we nursed him back to health and by the spring of 2006, he was a beautiful, healthy dog. Attached is one of my favorite photographs of him sitting on a chair called Miss Lulu, his favorite spot to bird watch out the window.
In late 2008, his health began failing. He started suffering from seizures, liver failure and kidney failure. Dr. Vanosdoll and the Alpine staff were amazing and we were able to keep him comfortable for awhile but in the end, we had to let him go. I know he had 4 happy post-Katrina years with us that he would not have had without the heartworm treatment. I am grateful for the time and love I was able to share with him. He was a very sweet dog who loved to run like the wind and cuddle.
Thank you for your memorial program and for listening to my story.
