A week before Scarlet passed, a car pulled over and the passenger rolled down their window to tell us how beautiful Scarlet was. It wasn’t uncommon, Scarlet had a way of capturing the attention of everyone around her – and the magical ability to make you fall in love just by looking at her.

She was the most unique dog we’d ever met – probably because she saw herself as a princess instead of a dog. She loved crunchy pieces of lettuce, being kissed on her head, cuddling with a mountain of stuffed animals, and meeting you with a dance at the front door. She traveled cross country in a car with us and brightened the lives of everyone who knew her on both coasts.

Scarlet knew exactly how to make herself comfortable and had no problem letting you know exactly what she wanted. She loved to have all of her humans in one room and be told how pretty she was. Sometimes she would wake you up in the middle of the night, just so she would be able to snuggle closer to you with a contented sigh.

We got to spend 15 years and 9 months with the most loving animal in the world, thanks to the care and kindness of veterinary teams. We are especially thankful to the team at Ravenna Animal Hospital for giving so much love to Scarlet and our family with her end of life care.

Scarlet’s love was as big as her personality, and we loved her just as much.
