We adopted our sweet little Moose on June 26, 2024. He stole our hearts the moment he entered into our home. He was 8 weeks old and such a sweet gentle little pup. He came to us with kennel cough and after two rounds of meds, I took him to the vet because he was still sick. He had pneumonia and an enlarged heart. Meds cleared his lungs and the day after he finished his pills I took him to the animal hospital because he was acting sick again. More meds, more tests. By August we learned our puppy had a liver shunt, at the time we thought it was extrahepatic. In October we learned it was an intrahepatic liver shunt and something our family would not be able to afford. Our goal at that point was to give our puppy the best possible life with his special diet and meds that he took around the clock. On December 1st we took him to the hospital again and learned that our poor little pup had severe hip dysplasia and dislocated hips. We were sent home with pain medication and two days later it was his time to say goodbye. Losing our puppy destroyed our family. We did absolutely everything we possibly could to give Moose the best life for his 5.5 months with us. We will never forget the love we shared with him.
