Josie and Sophie were my world~ They were litter mates. For 13 years and 4 months I got to be their Mommy. They absolutely did not like being apart from each other. They got diabetes together and other illnesses~Sophie lost her sight temporarily from her diabetes but thankfully a doctor from WSU restored it.
I was truly lucky to have found the perfect vet for Josie & Sophie~ Dr. Mark Schrag. He helped us through the needs of my puppies. This included December 2020 when he sadly informed me that my Josie had a cancerous tumour in her nose. I felt as though my world ended when he told me. In January 2021 off the three of us went to Pullman for appointment with Dr. Caroline Hohlman in Oncology~I prayed with all my heart that I would get more time with my Josie through radiation. Instead she said they could do surgery to cure her cancer. February 18, 2021 Sophie and I dropped Josie off with Dr. Tina Owen, Dr. Brittany Hyde and 4th year student Riley. My prayers were answered Josie was cancer free.
I cherished every minute with my puppies~Josie was the glue that held our little family together. I was thankful the day they turned 13~did pictures for her WSU doctors for our 14th Christmas together. Sadly, it would be our last Christmas together. On December 26, 2021 after going to three pharmacies I hurried home to give them their insulin but sadly that insulin was tainted causing seizures in both my babies and Josie Grace died in my arms. My Sophie held on but her heart was beyond broken without her Josie~she died in my arms on January 1, 2022. My heart will forever be broken without them.
I am forever grateful to Dr. Schrag and Drs Owen, Hohlman and Hyde. Also, to Devin Rokyta who did an amazing story on Josie this summer. Devin also made the donation in their names to WSU.
