Chloe

A donation was made in memory of Chloe on Feb 09, 2011.

As a young cat, Chloe had a litter of kittens. Her first owners then took her to the local animal shelter where she lived for a year, waiting for me. When I went to the shelter to find a companion for my elderly cat, Timmy, she was the first cat I saw. I went up to her and she licked my nose. And I said, "You are very sweet, but I can't take the first cat I see. I have to be fair and look around." But in the end, of course, Chloe came home with me.

Within just a few days, she was licking Timmy's head and comforting both of us. About a year later, Timmy died. I went back to the shelter to get a new cat, but Chloe was NOT interested. She was very happy being the one and only cat in my cozy house. And so, for the next seven years, Chloe and I lived together. When I arrived home from work, she would come running down the stairs when I called to her. If she was outdoors, she would come streaking across the yard when she saw my car pull into the driveway. She was a very good kitty who was friendly to all who came to visit. She and I loved each other very much.

When I found out that she had liver cancer, the internist told me she probably had only two weeks to live. But Chloe stayed with me for five more wonderful months. I am so grateful for her love and companionship. Rest in peace, sweet, sweet Chloe.

Kathleen H.

Comments: I met Chloe at least 6 years ago and indeed she was a sweet and gentle little girl. She loved to play and, before I bought a house in the area, I would spend the night at my friend's house. I remember that Chloe would always come for a visit to my room and lick my face. She never spent the night but did check in. She was a wonderful dear cat. She will be missed.

Comments: I met Chloe a few times while she was canvassing her Outdoor Kingdom. She knew I was a stranger, and she watched as I dropped off things on the table outside the back door. I knew she was failing and I'm sorry for her passing but I know she was grateful for Kathleen's companionship and faithfulness. Happy Trails, Chloe.

Comments: Kathleen is our sister, so when we went to vist her and Chloe, we brought our two cats along. They are full size male Maine Coons. They were easily 2X Chloe size, but she kept them trapped in the attic of the house protecting Timmy and her mom from those invaders. If they ventured to the stair well she would chase them back up. They never fought, she was just able to assert her power through a carefully placed look. She caringly protected Timmy who wasn't feeling well at that time. I think it was safe to say, that everyone knew she was the boss. WE all cried and cried when she got sick and left us. She remains one of the sweetest memories of our lives. Submitted in loving memory from Mike, Bobbie, Chester, and Wheatie

Comments: Chloe was a very sweet cat indeed! I enjoyed my short stay with her while Kathleen was out of town. Although, Kathleen forgot to mention that Chloe was aware of and fended off any paranormal activity during my visit at her home. Chloe protected me with all her might. Kudos, Chloe for being so valiant! Anne :)
