Where do I begin. The crazy part, as I write this, Shadow is still of this earth. However, it is time for us to allow Shadow to rest comfortably and be in peace. Shadow is just about 17 years old and we got him when he was maybe 3 1/2 week old. The people that had him got rid of the mother of the pups and the father. When I chose Shadow, actually, Shadow chose me, it was love at first sight. He crawled up the sleeve of my coat and was instantly part of the family. Shadow is a King Charles Spaniel mix that has the most mellow personality with a sense of humor and that boy has brought more joy, peace and happiness to our family than we could have ever imagined. My daughter used to actually dress him up in baby clothes and diapers. And if there was a box or a stroller, the poor baby was subjected to it. Let me say, he wasn't hurt or abused, I actually think he liked it. To this day, he loves being wrapped up in blankets. He has been an amazing friend in times of need. Shadow always knew exactly what we needed to help ease our burdens. Whether we just needed a friend to hold, a kiss, or play time, he seemed to know just what would bring our smiles back. He has helped ease the pain of broken hearts for all of us. He has always been happiest when all of his people were in one place. Like most of us, we want all of our loved ones in one place.

He has welcomed all kind of other critters into our home. When His sister brought home a bunny, he would actually let the bunny jump on his back while he would do his wandering. Never once harming the critter. Hamsters, pet mice, cats, you name it, he was always so accepting of them all. Now the time has come for us to repay his loyalty, love and kindness that he has always shown us. I have prayed for the strength to let him go with dignity. This is my way to help me say goodbye. Shadow, my friend, I wish only for you love, peace and dignity. You have earned it. I will be strong for you and know in my heart that you will always be there for me when I need you most. We love you and will always remember your loyalty and unselfish love for us all.
