Maggie

A donation was made in memory of Maggie by Doctors and Staff of the not recorded on Feb 27, 2009.

Maggie came into our lives on February 4, 1994, a spark plug of energy and delight. Scruffy, matted, with coat so overgrown we couldn’t see her eyes, this eight-month old little cockapoo at the animal shelter stole our hearts right away with her joy for life. She was with us for nearly 15 years, until that awful day last December 2 when the pain from her ailments became too much. Dr. Leese came to our home that day and gently guided us to make the best decision for Maggie. Maggie’s ashes now help nourish a beautiful spruce tree, which we planted years ago with the ashes of our beloved German Shepherd, Wuffy.

Maggie enjoyed a very active life for many years: running, swimming, guarding our home, and playing with her huge heap of toys. She kept us company at home and at work, and she let us know when we were working too long and should take a break. She made us laugh so much!!! She was so clever, loyal, brave, and loving. She was the best friend any person or dog could have. Her loss is still very difficult to endure.

That she lived so long is thanks in no small part to great veterinary care. Our vets here, and at WSU (she was a patient at the WSU Clinic many years ago) took great care of her. Dr. Leese said that if she or I had Maggie’s back, we wouldn’t be able to get off the sofa. She also had Cushing’s Disorder and an ailing heart. With medication, Maggie zoomed around her world as if she were a puppy well into her old age. She was truly amazing. She was a unique individual who can never be replaced in this world or in our hearts.
