A donation was made in memory of Ursa by
the doctors and staff at Valley Veterinary Hospital on
Sep 18, 2024.
Years ago, my husband rescued Ursa and her mother Cassie from a coworker who was going to dump them in the woods. Ursa was three months old, and I named her Ursa because she looked like a little bear. I would lift her into the air exclaiming, "Ursa!" in a high-pitched voice, and she just looked very happy. She allowed me to do this over the course of her life up until the end.
Outside, she would follow me around the property meowing until I'd pet her, then the drooling and enthusiastic head-rubbing started. A couple years ago, my husband called me over to his desk at home. He said, "Look!" and showed me that our security camera caught that Ursa would repeatedly run back and forth throughout the day to my dirty work clothes that I'd left on the porch and lie on them. She seemed to find comfort.
I referred to her as The Kitten Who Never Grew up, because that's what she was like. Ursa was 18 when she passed away in September 2024. We are very privileged to have had her.
