To Princess - GCh Novgorod Puschenka Tristanova, BCAT
You never knew a stranger until you found yourself alone and lost in the barren plains of Wyoming. Then we were all strangers. You survived through snowstorms and frigid temperatures. You traveled hundreds of miles. You were a master of the wild, but no match for the four-wheeled monster that took your life.
No matter how many tears I shed or how many prayers I say, they won’t bring you back to me. All the “if onlys” will not change your fate. No longer will you share with the world your sweetness and beauty.
Thank you to everyone who helped with the quest to bring Princess back to me – those who made signs and posters, those who helped physically search and post flyers, to the recovery team in Cheyenne and all the recovery experts who shared their expertise, to those who donated to the search efforts, and the hundreds who prayed for her safe return – I thank you. I have read all of your comments and am deeply touched by your care and concern. Please forgive me that I have not responded to each of you personally. It just hurts so bad. I can barely see through my tears just to write this.
Over my nearly 50 years in borzoi, many dogs have passed, yet not since the 70s has one affected me so deeply. Because she was special, because she was so young and had no chance to meet her potential, or because we tried so long and so hard to save her? I don’t know, I just know that I miss her and she was so very loved. Rest well, Miss P, I miss you so.
