“Our little Sophie Sue had hydrocephalus. We rescued her in October of 2009 from a family in Des Moines, WA who couldn’t care for a special needs dog. A relative of theirs had found her stuck in a pricker bush at their local post office. They lived on Lake Tapps and with Sophie Sue having such bad eyesight, they didn’t want her to fall into the lake (again). So we brought her home. We spoiled her rotten and even though she wasn’t a normal dog (we couldn’t really hold her or put her on a leash and take her anywhere) we made the most out of life with our little baby. She loved following us around and laying in front of the fireplace. Once in a while, she would even let us pet her and give her rubs. But most of all, she loved her doggie treats – which were tiny pieces of graham crackers. Then in the last few months that she was with us, her habits and personality were changing, unfortunately not for the better. We knew that the disease was getting the best of her, so with great difficulty we sent her to doggie heaven. We couldn’t have loved her more and we feel a great void in our lives with our little special needs baby girl gone. We love and miss you Sophie Sue.”
