Dear Thomas,
I miss you so much. You were such a faithful friend to me. I remember when you came and were about four months old. You were playing with Christmas wrapping paper and just a little guy. Then the time passed so quickly over the years.
I have such beautiful videos of you in the back yard,--doing your snow dance, helping me dig the garden, visiting with Milo and Russell. In the springtime with your shiny black coat, beautiful against the fresh green grass. You hiding behind the little piles of dirt, always the GC, garden cat.
Your black coat was so gorgeous and thick. I always wanted a black cat and then I got you—what a beauty! You were so handsome. But more importantly, you cared for me during those dark years when life was so hard for me. It has passed but all the time you were there.
Remember about 5 when you became a lap cat? I couldn’t answer the phone because you were there on my lap. Then after Catherine came to live with us, you became such a talker! I loved it when you came down the hall at night announcing your entrance and jumping on the bed. You always slept with me and how warm and comforting you were.
And how you loved Milo and Russell, especially Milo who did his very best to please you and you would bite his paw and it hurt his feelings. Then remember the day he finally barked at you and you were so surprised! But you were all great buddies. Also there was your great buddy Max who you loved a lot and sometimes you stole his bed when he visited us!
Then there were your favorite songs. I’d whistle, “In your Easter Bonnet” and “Red River Valley” and you would come running.
I know you loved sitting in the grass in the summer and I wish I’d joined you as you enjoyed the summer days. After the accident with the dogs, I was very careful and you could only be out when I was home and I was so careful. I’d call telling you “I have to leave now” and you’d be there in a couple of minutes. You, of course, came to your name and were such a good cat.
Thanks for always taking care of me and loving me and I loved you so much.
Then you turned to intellectual pursuits last year and learned all those tricks, just like that-sit, shake, give me 5, which hand has the treat, jump, circle and I don’t remember the rest. You were so smart.
I’m so sorry you became ill. The steroid helped but didn’t make you better. You were a very good patient and Dr. Onorati was very kind to you. It was very hard for me to say good bye but I had to on
May 20, 2011.
Dear Thomas, please understand how much I appreciate how kind and wonderful you were and what a great and loyal friend and how much you helped when I was so alone. I love you a so much and will always miss you but I hope you are happy where you are. I hope you are enjoying your days with Milo, Russell, Jenny, Katie, Leslie, Catherine, King, Harriet and all the rabbits. Thanks to Cathy for her very kind donation on your behalf which allows me to make my tribute to you, Thomas.
Much love my precious boy,
Joan
