Hello. My name is Brenda Baxter. I adopted my very first dog Earl in September 2014 from the Seattle Humane Society. He was the sweetest, most loving, happy pup. He brought so much joy to my life in such a short time. In January he was diagnosed with a very rare canine auto immune disease called erythema multiforme. He was hospitalized multiple times and had a fever over 104. He was very sick for months and wasn't responding well to numerous treatments and medications. Eventually we had to go the route of IVIG infusion by the Veterinary Specialty Center in Lynnwood. He responded well to this treatment for a few months, but eventually he just couldn't fight off the disease any longer. He passed away on September 19, 2015. The doctors at Elliot Bay Animal Hospital have been so incredibly supportive and amazing, it has been a blessing to have them by our side the whole way. It wasn't expected having all this happen right after adopting a dog, but I'm so glad that I was able to be here for Earl and give him a loving home for the last year of his life. Through all the challenges, he was always the calmest, sweetest, strongest lil guy. I called him "nugget" most of the time :) I never knew that I could bond with an animal so quickly. I love you Earl...and everyone you crossed paths with does too!
