Ashlee

A donation was made in memory of Ashlee by the doctors and staff at Valley Veterinary Hospital on Jan 30, 2020.

We got our precious Ashlee from a friend that was fostering her, she was only 5 months old when she came to her forever home. After 2 1/2 months with us she had brought so much joy and laughter to us and our 9 yr old male cat-Eddie. We weren't sure how he would react to a kitten, he fell in love with her!

One day she was a full of life, running all over the house playing with Eddie and into everything, as kittens do, then next day she couldn't keep her balance or walk straight. We took her to the vet immediately and had every test we could think performed. Everything came back normal, the Vet said she's never seen anything like this. The next day she was worse so we wanted a second opinion and tried a different Vet. Same thing, all tests were within normal limits. The condition had progressed, she had no muscle control, couldn't stand up and her vision was impaired. They kept her overnight for hydration, nutrition and comfort measures. We tried everything to help her get better. The only possible explanation was a neurological disorder of some kind. We brought her home because of the holiday weekend she'd be alone and we wanted her with her family. That night I tried to get an MRI scheduled but again because of the holiday weekend there were no neurologists on staff at the places I called. That night we stayed close by her, giving her as much love and pets as much as we could. The entire time, through all the vet trips and while at home she would purr so loudly whenever we would touch her, she knew we were trying to help her. It's so heart wrenching to watch such a helpless kitten suffer the way she did. The next morning we knew what was best for her so I called Valley Vet in Eburg, they got her in right away to evaluate. This is the third and final Vet we had been to in as many days that actually had an answer, Cerebellar disease in the back of her brain, there is no cure. She could've developed it while in the womb from the mama cat having a virus while pregnant. We'll never know. In the end the doctors and staff at Valley Vet were amazing. They were so understanding, compassionate and sensitive to our heartbreaking decision to let our precious Ashlee go. She's gone now but forever in our hearts and memories. We had a private cremation and have her remains, in a beautiful box they provided, next to pictures of her. She is missed everyday! Forever in our hearts!

We received a letter from WSU Pet Memorial Program stating Valley Vet made a monetary donation on behalf of Ashlee, this warmed our hearts. We can't say enough good things about the doctors and staff at Valley Veterinary clinic in Ellensburg. Thank you beyond words for your care and sensitivity. Laura, Jason & Eddie.
