Kelly
A donation was made in memory of Kelly on May 29, 2015.
We rescued these two sister Maltese dogs. They were found wandering in a rough area and one was near death. The wonderful Vet saved her. We have always had dogs but never 2 at one time. We found out that these girls were litter mates. They loved each other dearly. They would wash each others ears and literally kiss each other. Kelly was the Alpha dog. She protected us all! If a workman came into our house she would pull at his jeans, if another dog was around during our walks she was the first one to bark and engage them with a wagging tail. A year before she died she developed Cushings Disease. However this did not slow her down. We gave her medication and she still charged ahead. My grandchildren called our Casey and Kelly “The Cheerleaders!” Kelly died suddenly. She was fine on a Sunday, slept well, then on Monday she could hardly get up. That day, November 10, 2014 I will always remember. My husband was out of town and I brought her to our vet. Our regular vet was not in so an unknown vet was to watch her. Unfortunate circumstances occurred and in the end after picking her up from the vet I had to bring her to an emergency vet center where they told me her whole system was compromised and she was paralyzed in her hind quarters and said the kindest thing was to put her to sleep. We miss her very much to this day. She was so special. Casey is still with us. At first we don’t think she realized what happened. Then she went through a period of mourning. Now she is deeply attached to my husband and myself and will not leave our sides. We take her with us whenever we can. Her nickname has always been “Miss Perfect” and she still carries that title. She is loving, sweet, adores children and people. Yes, I have had dogs all my life but Casey and Kelly will always be my favorites. I miss Kelly every day and still can see both girls lying in exactly the same direction on our bed when we went to sleep, or lying down together on their own cushion.
