A donation was made in memory of Lola by
the doctors and staff at Latah Creek Animal Hospital on
Dec 23, 2024.
Today would have been Lola’s 12th birthday.
We lost her four months ago, and even now, I struggle to find the words that could possibly capture the life and spirit of such an amazing, adventurous, sassy, and sweet girl.
Lola stole our hearts the moment we met her. From that day on, she was our constant companion—our trail buddy, our camping partner, our stick-chewing, tennis-ball-chasing, water-loving best friend. She loved long walks, swimming, and every adventure we shared—no matter how far, long, or wild.
She also deeply loved her family—her canine sister, Harper (who is still with us), and her feline brother, Steppenwolf (who passed before her). She made friends wherever she went—some she looked up to, others she took under her wing.
Lola wore her emotions like a badge of honor. You always knew what she was thinking—and often, it was “You’re not doing it right” or “Try again, but better.” Mornings with Lola were never lazy. She’d stand there, staring us down, practically vibrating with energy, urging us to hurry up and get moving. Heaven help us if we took too long putting on our shoes—the eye daggers she sent could melt steel.
We nicknamed her “Sheldon” because she always had her spot (usually ours, which she claimed without hesitation), and her routine.
Lola was full of spunk and attitude. She made herself at home wherever she went. I miss her grumbles of disapproval, her excited play barks, her zoomies, her cuddles, and yes, even the legendary judging eyes.
For my husband and me, Lola wasn’t just a dog—she was the center of our universe. She meant everything to us, and her absence is felt every single day.
I hope there’s a place where she can run free, chase tennis balls, chew her favorite sticks, and boss everyone around to her heart’s content. I hope she’s found her old friends, and that her days are filled with the same joy she brought to us.
