Our Miss Nelly Girl (named after the Rapper!) and her BFF, Dr. Van
We are so pleased that Dr. Van (Vanosdoll) from Alpine Animal Hospital in Issaquah and his team chose to dedicate a gift to WSU Veterinary Medicine in honor of our Miss Nelly girl.
Van was Nelly’s “BFF” and she loved him always & forever. No procedure or exam ever was bad if Van was there. Even in the end she jumped into his arms as she left this world into the great beyond to join her big brother Spunky.
Nelly, a tri-color Chihuahua, was very special as she had Addison’s disease since she was 2 years old. Dr. Van cared for her after her diagnosis and always said that she was the longest surviving Addisonian pup in his practice! She also had 3 knee surgeries and was still standing at 15!
Hypertension caught up with her in her 15th year, no matter how hard we tried to intervene, she did not respond to our efforts. Van even referred her to the best ophthalmologist in Seattle, after his vet tech caught the bleeding into Nelly’s right anterior chamber that led to her diagnosis.
Nelly and our family were so very lucky to have the best vet in town and a WSU Veterinary Medicine Alumni caring for her for all these years. She was our special girl and will be missed always and forever. We will always hold Dr. Van in our highest esteem for his professionalism, skills and good nature!!
