The morning of my flight to Michigan, I was up and around, busy getting things packed and knew I needed to get Cooper into his carrier soon to take him to be boarded. But then, a few minutes before it was time to go, I heard the all-to-familiar sound of a thump in the basement, which was Cooper jumping into a gap between the drywall and ceiling. He loved to go high and you could frequently see him scanning his eyes up to where he could jump. I tried everything to get him out - I got up a ladder and tried to pull him out without success. I opened a can of tuna. In desperation, I ran to the grocery store and bought a warm rotisserie chicken that he could smell - whenever I brought one home, he always tried to get to it. That didn't work either. Finally, I looked at the clock and accepted that I would probably miss my flight. I sat down and put my head in my hands. Probably two minutes later, I heard the thump of Cooper jumping down and he came slowly upstairs - more than he loved to jump high, he was also a lap cat. Since I was finally sitting down that morning, he could also sit in my lap. I gave him a big hug and got him into his carrier so fast. I barely made my flight. After that, whenever I needed to get Cooper to come to me, I simply sat down.
