BARNI
Barni was adopted July 1, 1999 from King County Animal Control. She was my first girl kitty. I went to look at the kittens and Barni was the first one I saw. She was so tiny. She put her paw through the door as to say “take me home to be your kitty”. I loved her from the moment I first saw her. I didn’t have to look any longer. She was going to be mine. I walked straight to the attendant and told her I wanted the little black and white kitten. I waited in the office for her to bring me my new kitten. Barni was so curious. She walked on top of the desk and went up on the windowsill. She was all over the office. We took care of the paperwork and we were on our way home. When we got home she had to check everything out. She played with her toys and was ready for a nap. I held her near my shoulder. She started to suckle my neck. I thought that was her way of telling me she was safe and loved. Barni was so beautiful. Her fur was deep black and pure white. It was extremely soft. It was so comforting to me to pet her. She had a cute little “beauty mark” on her nose. I called her my little “Marilyn Monroe”. Barni eventually gave her affections to my husband (“daddy”) after I brought Sammi home. Barni didn’t care too much for Sammi. Eventually they did become “sisters”. When Barni was 13, I took her to the Vet for a checkup. Barni was not a very happy patient. She would always give the Techs a hard time. She had them all afraid of her, but not for long. They saw right through her. She was diagnosed with kidney disease. We did infusions to flush her kidneys and started medicines for the high blood pressure and thyroid disease. She had arthritis in her back legs and spine. She was in a lot of pain. She would get injections to help the pain. I was told she could probably have a couple more years with the treatments. She did have two more years. I’m sad to say they were not real good ones. Eventually she would not let me give her the medications or the pain injections. I knew her time was near. I made an appointment to take her to see the Vet. When I picked Barni up to put her in the carrier she hardly weigh anything and didn’t even put up a fuss. I think she knew what was going to happen. She meowed only one time going to the clinic. She didn’t even give the Tech any trouble. I was blessed with 15 wonderful years with Barni. Barni went to sleep for the last time on July 12, 2014. I loved her with all my heart and soul. I will never forget my first little girl kitty and how much love she gave me. Her remains are placed next to Sammi who went to sleep on January 24, 2013. I believe with the loss of Sammi and not knowing where her “daddy” went, she just gave up. I will miss how we talked to each other when she would walk between my legs and let me pet her. Barni was a blessing from God and will always have a special place in my heart. Mommy loves you Barni.
