Lulu was a lovely sweet girl who was serious about bed time (whining promptly at 8:30), would climb into the tub on command, and loved to hold hands.
She was a runner, unfortunately, and would make a break for it when doors or gates were ajar. Her adventures in the neighborhood were terrifying to a few (who saw her pit bull face) but she made friends with the majority of the neighbors and never had an altercation with human or dog. After dark, she'd be reluctant to come into the house but would lay in the front yard guarding us from shadows and imagined threats. We found out on those nights she would escort the neighbor lady from her car to her front door when she got home from work around midnight. We'd leave the gate open and sneak out and shut it after she'd gone to sleep in her doghouse. (We tried positive training, electric fencing, a eventually a shock collar to no avail.)
During these "outings" if we needed to run an errand we'd have to circle the block as she raced the car. Sometimes it would take two full trips around for her to spot a squirrel, cat, or other distraction (so we could drive out of our neighborhood without her following)!
She was a stinker but her snugly nature and goofy smile made it hard to be angry and she was loved by family and neighbors alike.
