Maggie

A donation was made in memory of Maggie on Jun 09, 2009.

The recent letter acknowledging our Veterinarians' donation to WSU College of Veterinary Medicine was received with mixed emotions. Feelings of sadness, loss and smiles of fond memories came flooding back as I read your letter and words of condolences. It was a very kind gesture and contribution on our Maggie's behalf. But most important knowing we helped her at a time when keeping her would only be for our best interest, not hers. We so appreciate the help from the Yakima Vet Clinic staff for their kindness and treatment of Maggie's condition. She had Cushings disease and an enlarged heart among other problems. Having the staff come to the house was a relief to her and a comfort to our whole family for her peaceful end. She was a very special soul and our family dog for over 13 years. This last picture was taken of her in February at our local park, just a few days before she died. I would carry her to the park so she could try to see her squirrels one last time. We still miss her greatly, but now she is free of pain and chasing squirrels in doggy heaven. Hopefully monies and research at WSU can help many other animals with diseases like Cushings and numerous other ailments. Thanks so much for your continued work in helping animals. I still cry, smile and miss my Maggie, but two months to the day she died I knew I needed a new companion and walking buddy. We now have Ellie, a Humane Shelter dog. She makes us laugh, chews toys (and other items she shouldn't) and is a good walking dog. She needed a home after living on the street as a stray and at the shelter for two weeks. She's not Maggie, but she will fill our hearts with love and joy through the years, too.

Barb B.
