Murphy was the sweetest and most persistent dog we ever knew, who never failed to make us and everyone who met her smile. Her happy life was only made possible though by the care and skill of many different veterinarians. Her journey with us began in Oregon, where on just her second day home, she was accidentally bit in the head by another dog and had to be rushed to an emergency vet. Thanks to the skills and resources of the vets, she was able to survive and come home. She was left with a dent in the left side of her skull, unable to see much out of her left eye, and could only walk by circling to the left. Murphy overcame all of this and grew into a sweet and silly dog. After moving to Washington, she developed seizures that vets had to work hard to find the right combination of medications to keep them under control. Several times it seemed as though she wouldn't make it, but she pulled through. Despite all of these hurdles, she retained her sweet disposition, enjoying the comforts of treats, the occasional short walk, and a good couch or bed to sleep on. After nearly eight years, Murphy developed additional complications we believe were cancer and had to be put to sleep to end her suffering. She was surrounded by family who loved her and even in her last moments, she was a sweet girl who just wanted to cuddle with her humans. Murphy will always be remembered and loved by us all and we will always be grateful for all of the veterinarians who made those nearly eight years possible.
