Zeus found me. Having grown up with black cats in my family, it seemed fateful when a stray black kitten came up to me in a parking lot 13 years ago. He proceeded to be a silly, affectionate, big lug of a friend, favoring a position up high on my shoulder or, when I was sleeping, on the small of my back. He helped me through graduate school, two major personal losses, and 9 different apartment moves.

When I moved in together with my husband, our individual rituals with Zeus colorfully illustrated each day. We could never, as much as we tried, express enough love into his warm black fur.
We miss him.
