Once we knew Smitty had a terminal illness, we started a bucket list of some of his favorite outings. In May we visited the beach, took him to pick out a treat at Petco, got him a wading pool this summer and visited Detroit Lake, a place he really loved! We had one last hike with the Scottie club and he said his final goodbyes at the park where all his little doggie friends met, when it was obvious that he only had days to live. I was by his side to put him to sleep and I think my heart will always be broken. But my other dog Jo Jo needs me to be strong, so we quietly grieve a spirit so strong and so brave that we both drew strength from him!
