Jasper

A donation was made in memory of Jasper by the doctors and staff at Northwest Veterinary Hospital on May 02, 2025.

Jasper was picked up as a stray by a rescue group in Yakima when he was about six months old. After a week or so of a persistent cough, his foster family took him to the vet where it was discovered he had a diaphragmatic hernia, probably from being hit by a car. The vets at WSU actually saved his life! They repaired the hernia, giving him a chance to heal and us a chance to meet and adopt him. He was my best friend for almost seven years. He was clever and could understand what you said to him, and nod when he wanted to say "yes!" He would poke you with his nose or hook your arm with his paw to get a pet, leaning into you with affection. He had a different bark to say hello to each person he loved, including the UPS lady that would give him treats. He had a repertoire of unnecessarily loud yawns, snorts, moans, and fake sneezes that he used to convey his thoughts. He was a wonderful brother to Jules and foster brother to eight other rescue dogs. He contributed to science as part of the Dog Aging Project. He fought lymphoma for an extraordinary two and a half years. He was loving, and loyal, and cherished.
