Our little friend, Sweet Emma, had been with us for 15 years. When we learned a year ago that she had kidney disease, we did what we could for her. She died at home, as we sat with her in the living room, surrounding her with love. Shortly afterward, we lit a candle. Then we wrote her a eulogy:

You were a brave girl this past year, Emma. Still a sweetheart, just like the day we brought you and your departed sister Smudge home from the cat rescue lady. We miss you both.

We’ve told you many secrets in those soft furry ears. Sweet dreams, Sweet Emma. You are missed by your humans.
