Bentley Boy

A donation was made in memory of Bentley Boy by Lisa and Mats on Jan 31, 2024.

How to begin? Our boy Bentley was born on March 3, 2008 and left us on January 31, 2024. I know most people with a dog say that they are the best, but we honestly think that Bentley was the best dog in the entire world. He had so many wonderful qualities and of course he did have a tendency to be a bit of a troublemaker on occasion, which made him even more adorable and loveable. He was also way too cute for words. He was so cute that he made the front page of the Columbian newspaper in December 2010 on Santa’s lap. He had so many things that he did that were amazing it is going to be impossible to name them all, so I have chosen a few that I am sure will make anyone reading this smile. We live on 4 fenced acres and so he had the run of the property from the time we brought him home at 6 weeks old. He loved to wander out into the pasture and sniff around looking for whatever might interest him. One of his favorite things was to sneak out the back barn door when we were feeding the animals and then run from us when we realized he had escaped. One of his trouble making moments. He loved to sit out in the yard in the sun and watch the cars going by, sometimes barking at nothing in particular. He loved to try to chase a squirrel until it went up a tree. He loved to spill his toy boxes all over the living room floor and then sit in the middle of the spilled toys with a very satisfied look on his face. He loved it when I came home from the pet store with a new toy for him. He would wait for me to take it out of the bag and give it to him at which time he would run to the living room with it and play with it by his very full toy boxes. He loved to go under the bed in the master bedroom and pretend like he was a troll. Sometime with only his cute little behind and tail showing from under the bed. He knew when I was peeling hard-boiled eggs from our chickens and would come running wanting his hard-boiled egg. He loved to sit up on his very wide back side by us at the kitchen table and wait for part of our dinner. He could sit that way for a very long time. Unfortunately, the last couple years of his life he was not able to do many of the things he had enjoyed earlier in his life. In 2020 he was diagnosed with diabetes and Cushings Disease, which required insulin shots twice a day. Because of the diabetes he eventually went completely blind. Despite this, he continued to be a very sweet loving boy and even with all the medical care he required he continued to have a wonderful personality. Because of his personality he was a favorite at his Veterinary’s office, which he visited at least every two weeks. He was one tough little guy and we miss him more we could have ever imagined. Bentley, I hope you are in doggie heaven having a really good time with your cousin Winston. We were so lucky to have had you in our lives for almost 16 years. We love you and always will.
