We never thought a little chicken could wriggle her way into our hearts and leave such a palpable void in her absence but Candy Corn did. She was special. Such a special girl in fact that my husband (the only human carnivore in our house) decided to stop eating chicken because of her. She loved to be held and petted and chatter away while looking you in the eye as if telling you all about her day. If you patted your lap, she'd hop up and nestle in. One day she took a swig of my cocktail when I wasn't looking. We lost her to a genetic condition and it impacted us emotionally more than we could have ever anticipated. We miss her terribly.
