Just after the turn of the century, Shumie adopted me. Then she pulled me into "Snowdog" rescue . . . so that she wouldn't get bored, you see! She brought so much richness into my life and the lives of so many others, canine and human. Last night I dreamed about her. She was a horse in my dream, and I was back with the rest of my family in Kentucky. I guess it symbolized the journey. I miss her. I hope I deserved her.
