Whymer

A donation was made in memory of Whymer by your friends at Green Lake Animal Hospital on Jul 23, 2025.

I adopted Whymer as a kitten. He was an oops baby from a rescued mama who had been pregnant when she was scooped up. He was terrified when I got him home and pinned himself behind my toilet. It took some coaxing but eventually he came out for food. Eventually being a day or two later. When he learned I fed him he yelled at me constantly for food. I named him "Whymer" because I had been calling him "whiner" and I was reading a book with a religious sect called the Pandro Whym in it whose denizens were called "Whymers" so the name stuck out. His coloring was also that of a Weimaraner dog.

We got off to a rocky start. He wasn't very affectionate with me but he loved my dog and other cat. Me he would divebomb for my food (even though I am a vegetarian and never eat anything he's supposed to eat. Like meat). Eventually though his need for attention broke through and he began to warm up to me. He became MY cat. He was terrified of other humans, loved my other pets, and loved me.

He moved out of Washington to California with me then ten years later moved back to Washington. His best friend (my older cat) had to be put down in 2023 when he could no longer jump without falling. My roommate had a cat but she didn't like Whymer and this isolation made him more friendly with people.

I had to put him down in June 2025 when his bad kidneys finally caught up with him. He was such a sweet, special boy. I loved him so much and I'm still so sad he's gone
