Miss Kitty was a dear companion for 16 years. She found us one spring, after someone had abandoned her near our country home. She was about 8 or 9 months old, and one of the prettiest tortoise-shell cats I'd ever seen. I wasn't looking for a cat, but she stole our hearts. A few months after we adopted her, she had a litter of 6 kittens. Our other cat, Harley, was one of those kittens. Miss Kitty was uniquely social and friendly. My teenage sons would have their friends over and she would greet everyone who came to the house. Often she would "talk" to us, letting us know she wanted to be petted or played with. She had a loud purr that you could hear across the room. She would even purr while the vet or the technicians were working with her. As you can see from the photo, she was great with kids. That is my granddaughter, age 4, playing "dress up" with Miss Kitty.
