Scarlett

A donation was made in memory of Scarlett by Drs. Goebel, Batdorf, Stidham, Hamack and Meyer at Vista Veterinary Hospital on Apr 17, 2020.

Scarlett and Rhett were a bonded pair that Journey Home Rescue rescued from a Kill Shelter in New Mexico last June 2019. They were having trouble placing both into a foster home together so I, Patricia Ponte, talked to my husband to allow me to foster them both. I got Scarlett and Rhett the 2nd week or so of July. Scarlett was diagnosed with Cushings Disease. In February of 2020 Scarlett was not eating well and was losing a lot of weight and then on 02/17/20 I noticed she had a lot of blood in her paper when she urinated. On 02/18/20 Karen from Journey Home Rescue took her for me to Vista Animal Hospital, where Dr. Batdorf diagnosed her with a severe UTI and diabetes. We were told the best thing for her so she wouldn't be suffering was to put her down. That day was really hard for me, because I have never lost a dog. I got to love Scarlett as part of my family. She was such a precious girl and I am so glad that I was able to foster them even if it was for a short time. I will always remember her and will always love her. I decided to adopt Rhett since he and Scarlett became part of our family and I could not allow him to be adopted by strangers since he was familiar with us. Thank you for remembering Scarlett.
