Boomer and Chance

A donation was made in memory of Boomer and Chance by Doctors and Staff of the Wandermere Animal Hospital on Mar 25, 2009.

Boomer and Chance came into my life 11 and 10 years ago. Boomer was a "pound puppy" and Chance was a stray. Both were sweet, gentle, and very funny dogs. Boomer was the definite ring leader, as most German Shepard's are, and Chance was a willing follower in whatever mischief Boomer could dream up. Chance was the athlete, and Boomer was the "brains". Boomer was maternal with his stuffed animals, and Chance thrived on tearing them to shreds. Chance was a hunter's dream. We, however, only hunted sticks. Even so, he would scour the field or pile of sticks or hillside for hours to retrieve that one particular stick you threw, if you were willing to wait that long. His energy was endless, and enthusiasm boundless. The only thing he liked better than chasing sticks or squirrels was eating.

Boomer was my constant companion and protector. Wherever I went in the house he was sure to follow. My nights are very lonely now without his snoring.

Unfortunately, for whatever reason, both my boys developed cancer at the same time, and as fate would have it, passed on in the very same week. I was, needles to say, heart broken, but have come to realize that maybe they were destined to be together in life and death too. I will miss them always, but cherish the time I got to share with them. They made my life that much fuller for having been with me, and I know they touched the lives of everyone that knew them. I want to thank everyone involved with their care, both at Wandermere Animal Hospital, and WSU vet hospital, for the wonderful care and concern shown to me and my "boys". You made a very difficult time in my life easier, and made their last days as easy and comfortable as possible. You all are a special group of people and you must know that what you do every day for people and their pets makes a big
difference. Thank you.

Shannon S.
