Kaitlyn
A donation was made in memory of Kaitlyn on Feb 01, 2010.
We brought Katie home in May 1993. She lived with us and made us happy until she died with her family by her side. December 20, 2009, age 16. Katie was part of a very large extended family, which includes our friends.
.
My son Travis, who just had to have his very own dog, had talked us into getting her. We found an ad in the Nichol Want Ads for a Border Collie; she was the runt of the litter. Her litter had spend the first weeks of their lives in a long car ride up from Texas. Katy was a wonderful guard dog, and always near my boys. This meant sleeping with them or in her later years, after the boys moved out, would sleep next to our bed. She followed the boys everywhere, including jumping on the trampoline. She once chased my son onto the football field during a game. Thank goodness for my fast thinking daughter, as fast as Katie ran on the field, chasing my son, my daughter had her in the car, before the referee could decide were she came from.
She was the most friendly dog, people were amazed on how well behave she was. My son Travis had taught her so many tricks, that it was unbelievable. She thrived on guarding my children who at the time were Tauna 16, Travis 10, and Tyler 7. If she felt they were up to something that was wrong, she would always come to me whimpering. No one ever snuck out after that. I only wished we had gotten her earlier, when we first started our family.
Well as my children grew up and left the house, we brought home a Kitten. This kitten was Katie’s pride and joy since they would constantly play together. The last 2 ½ years of her life she spent watching and playing with my grandson on his many visits. It took her at least 1 week to recover after he went home, but nothing every kept her down. Katy’s favorite thing to do is ride in the car and drive through McDonalds for a quick hamburger. She went camping with us, even to New Mexico, and many trips to the ocean. Just the last few years she had slowed down, but would always be able to greet visitors with a waging tail and a lopsided doggy grin.
..
Looking through family picture, its funny to see how she never left our family’s side, there are very few picture she was not in. Katie had many friends and family, she was loved by all. She was often recognized on the street by strangers who I did not know. They had met her while she was out with another family member. It sometimes seems like everyone in town knew her.
