Dolly

A donation was made in memory of Dolly by the doctors and staff at Chuckanut Valley Veterinary Clinic on Apr 14, 2017.

Dolly went to run carefree in greener pastures on 4/2/2017. Her registered name was Lady Daisy Doll. Her sire was Doc Bar who stood at Riverbend Ranch in OSO. Imprinted at birth, she thought she was a human. Left to her own devices she would have spent all her time hanging over my shoulder. She came to me at age 12 slightly broken physically. She had been completely trained and participated in many shows and games. she also road with the Snohomish County Sheriffs Posse and did search and rescue. Due to life changes of her previous owner she came to be in eastern Washington where her human left a gate open and she fell in a cattle guard. I was told it took hours to cut her out and she was on the front page of the papers. During her recovery from the injuries she sustained in this mishap she foundered a foot and had an arthritic knee and was no longer a candidate for a riding horse and was being sold to pay the vet bills from her recovery. I saw her potential as a brood mare and quite fell in love with her and she came to live with me. Over the 17+ years she shared with me she had several beautiful babies and became my friend. She survived a stroke several years ago and was retired from breeding. Over the last year or so her leg opposite the foundered foot became frozen at all the joints and it became increasingly difficult for her to move around. The decision to allow her to sleep had already been made and on 4/1 she went down in her stall and did not get up. On 4/2 I spent the day with her, brushing and talking to her and she and I decided it was time to rest. She was assisted by Dr. Joe and went peacefully from this world. She runs the green fields in heaven and will be remembered fondly.
