Coda

A donation was made in memory of Coda by Drs. Goebel, Batdorf, Stidham, Hamack and Meyer at Vista Veterinary Hospital on Mar 20, 2020.

On January 17, 2020 Coda went In for his annual wellness exam to visit Dr. Kathy Batdorf of Vista Veterinary Clinic. It was determined that he had a mass on his spleen and possibly other complications. Upon further examination, his liver was observed to have many enlarged cancerous tumors on it. After counsel with Dr. Batdorf and Lonna Malone, Coda was granted permission to take his place among many past Fur friends and loving people that he knew. Coda was born in April of 2006 and lived on a farm on McConihe Flats with his first family a late 30s couple with no children and a companion elder Golden Labrador. Two events transpired to make for a change in Codas living arrangements. First his dog companion passed. Second, his human mother became unexpectedly pregnant at age 40. Coda lived briefly in a small back yard in Moses Lake. At that time, his human masters determined that he should go to a farm or to a place with larger acreage. An advertisement was placed for free to a good home in the Columbia Basin Herald. This was Memorial Day weekend when John Morris went to observe who would be a good pairing for a young border collie Jake, and a short hair dog Cocoa. His human father brought him out on his way to his morning commute to Wanapum Dam for Grant County PUD the following week. Coda was a dog who was focused and always wanted a job to do, whether it be fetching a ball, chasing an ATV in tandem with Jake and Cocoa lagging behind, or jumping into a pickup for a ride dealing with farm chores or general shopping. Coda found being petted fine but blasé, there was time wasting he had to be about that action. The morning of his death, he went on a long walk with his recently new companion Nyera at his new residence in rural Pasco. He crashed the gate and barked per his usual signature, not wanting to waste any daylight. Long live Coda Dog April 2006 to January 2020.
