Booboo

A donation was made in memory of Booboo by Doctors and Staff of the Yakima Veterinary Clinic on May 21, 2012.

My Booboo was the third out of five of our rescued babies; Sofie, Mini Dachshund, BD - 08/19/1999, rescued January 2000....Rusty, Chihuahua/Dachs mix, rescued 03/2001, age unknown, passed away January 2010....Booboo, Peke/Pom BD - 09/01/2004, rescued 09/27/2005, passed away 01/13/2012....Taz, Dachs/Jack Russell, BD 01/04/2010, adopted 03/06/2010....Katy, Poodle Mix, rescued 05/29/2011, age unknown. Each of these babies have their own sad story.

My Booboo was born to a pedigree Pekingese, but not through a planned conception. She was found on the floor by the owner...so tiny...and looking more like a hair ball than a puppy. The owner picked her up not knowing what it was and...it moved. (hence, the name Booboo) The mother would not let Booboo suckle and did not want anything to do with her. The owner seriously thought of destroying this little baby, but decided to take her to his vet. Booboo remained there for about a month..being hand feed with a dropper. The owner became very ill and was not expected to pull through. He asked a friend to please take over the care of his little Booboo. Karen Martin (also a good friend of my Husband) agreed to take Booboo and care for her. Booboo was so little, Karen had to be at constant watch to make sure her other pets didn't hurt Booboo.

We were on our way back to Montana and the Martin's asked us to stop by to say good-by. They brought out Booboo and told us her story and asked if if we might want to take her. They knew we had 2 other little ones and Booboo would be in less danger. One look at this little baby and we were hooked. She was such a timid little thing...I held her close to me all the way to Montana. Her confidence and personality grew and she just thrived. She became very close to Sofie and always followed her around everywhere. She would be very nervous and apprehensive if I took her somewhere without Sofie. I always took them together when it was time for shots or examinations. The morning of January 13, 2012, she appeared to have a sore throat because she had been coughing. I was worried she might have an infection...so without an appointment...Bill took her in. That was the last time I saw my baby.....there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of her. I was so crushed and confused as to what happened. I have faith in the care given by our Dr.Patrick and others at The Yakima Veterinary Clinic and I know everything was done that could be done to help her. She had such a hard beginning that I pray she wasn't scared wondering where mommy was.

Thank you for your letter and concern and giving me the chance to talk about my baby Booboo.

Mary Lou C.
