Shanny

A donation was made in memory of Shanny by Abbey Burgess on Jun 09, 2010.

Shanny, our beloved greyhound girl, has left this world and journeyed on to another great adventure. We first met Shanny when we volunteered for a Greyhound Rescue of Idaho event. She was one of many dogs that had just been rescued from a track in Colorado. We will always remember that day, because that is the day that fate brought us to her and she picked us to be her owners. We took the scared, shy, underweight pup home, not knowing what to expect. It did not take her long to adjust to life at home, especially since she had a lot of help from her new best friend Mickey (another ex-racer) and several kitty friends. Shanny grew to be a lovely member of the family, always entertaining us with her silly ways.
She always enjoyed a good meal, as well as the occasional treat of left over pancakes or biscuits on a Sunday morning. Shanny loved squeaky toys, as her first instinct when receiving a new toy was to destroy the sound making device. She also enjoyed car rides and walks with her daddy. One of Shanny's greatest joys in life was being able to bark at doorbells or car horns.
She loved her family with all her heart and she could heal any emotional wound by just laying her head in your lap and looking at you with her empathetic eyes.
Shanny enjoyed everyday to the fullest and taught us all how to really live. We are happy that she is out of pain and finally reunited with her sister, Mickey. You will be missed Shanny Mae, but you will remain forever in our happiest of memories and our hearts. We will meet you and Mickey again one day on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.
